What's new
The West Virginia International Film Festival is celebrating its 41st year from November 12–15 with a showcase of eight feature films representing six continents. Among the lineup announced by festival spokesperson Blake Whitener are award-winning international titles, including a prominent Turkish drama. Screenings will take place in Charleston at Park Place Cinemas and the Floralee Hark Cohen Cinema.
About the series
A major highlight of the festival's narrative offerings is Yellow Letters, a Turkish-language drama directed by İlker Çatak. The film gained international acclaim by winning the Golden Bear, the top prize at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival. The story centers on a married couple whose professional and family lives crumble after political pressure causes them to lose their employment. Relocating to Istanbul alongside their teenage daughter, the couple strives to protect their personal relationship and autonomy amid hardship. Complete cast information for the film is not specified in the source; please check the official notice.
What to expect
In addition to Yellow Letters, attendees will have the opportunity to view a range of global features, short films, filmmaker presentations, and creative workshops. Highlights of the feature lineup include:
