About the series
Directed by Lee Jung-rim and written by Pyeon Seong-geun, the 12-episode show is adapted from the Japanese series Doctor X: Surgeon Michiko Daimon. The story focuses on Gye Su-jeong, a highly skilled surgeon who stands firm in her professional principles. She is portrayed by Kim Ji-won, who recently gained popularity in the 2024 hit romantic series Queen Of Tears. When Su-jeong joins Guseo University Hospital through a doctor-for-hire agency, she begins confronting internal corruption, power struggles, and long-standing practices resistant to reform.
The main cast also features:
- Lee Jung-eun as Jang Hui-suk
- Son Hyun-joo as Bu Seung-gwon
- Kim Woo-seok as Park Tae-gyeong
What to expect
The series releases new episodes every Friday and Saturday. If the current broadcast schedule continues without interruptions, the drama is expected to conclude its 12-episode run on November 14.
While the production has achieved strong ratings, it has simultaneously encountered criticism regarding its depiction of medical care. Disappointed viewers argue that the series takes excessive creative liberties, citing scenes where a surgeon acts independently during a multi-specialty procedure, as well as debates over basic emergency care and the necessity of surgery after reducing an inguinal hernia. On the other hand, supporters argue that dramatic elements are appropriate since the show remains a work of fictional entertainment.
