About the series
Nine years ago, Netflix reintroduced the dark fantasy world to streaming audiences with an animated series loosely adapting Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. The popular show followed monster hunter Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Dracula's dhampir son Alucard as they fought to save humanity from vampires in Wallachia. The streaming run later spawned a sequel spin-off titled Castlevania: Nocturne.
Despite the success of the animated releases, the main video game series stayed quiet following 2014's Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Aside from collections of legacy games and crossover events in titles like Dead Cells, Vampire Survivors, and Dead by Daylight, new releases were on hold until this year.
What to expect
The newest release introduces a fresh protagonist to the lore named Rose, a previously unseen Belmont who is the daughter of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades.
