About the series

The hit international crime drama Lupin is officially coming back to Netflix for Part 4 following a three-year real-world hiatus. Drawing inspiration from the fictional gentleman thief Arsène Lupin, the series follows Omar Sy as Assane Diop in a storyline packed with intricate heists and suspenseful twists.

What's new

All eight episodes of the new season will drop on Netflix on Friday, October 23, 2026. Although the real-world gap between seasons was three years, the narrative inside the show jumps four years ahead to explain Assane's changing situation.

Production details and updates for the upcoming release include:

  • Schedule and Filming: After an official announcement in May 2025, production took place in Paris from May 2025 to September 2025.
  • Returning Cast: Omar Sy stars alongside returning cast members Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine, and Laïka Blanc-Francard.
  • Reasons for the Wait: The extra development time allowed the production team to broaden the show's scope, balance familiar elements with new surprises, and accommodate Omar Sy's schedule, which included increased creative involvement as well as roles in an Ocean's prequel and Dumas: Black Devil.

What to expect

Part 4 picks up with Assane behind bars, intending to finish his prison sentence so he can keep a promise to his son and join his family in Senegal. However, his plans are upended when a mysterious declaration signed by "Lupin" claims that multiple museums will be robbed simultaneously.

When the robberies take place despite heightened security, evidence points directly to Assane. Framed for the crime, he must break out of prison to uncover the copycat's identity and restore his name. Viewers can look forward to higher stakes, fresh plot twists, and a significantly stronger adversary.
