Streaming audiences looking for intense mystery and suspense have a major release date to mark on their calendars. The second season of the Texas-set thriller series arrives on Netflix on Thursday, November 26, 2026. This upcoming chapter will feature eight episodes, matching the total count of the first season.
What's new
Unlike its initial run, the show now streams as a worldwide Netflix original across nearly all regions where the service operates. Following strong viewership that passed 35 million views for its debut season, Netflix renewed the project for Season 2 in September 2025. Demonstrating strong confidence in the drama, a third eight-episode season was officially ordered on October 7, 2026, well before the second season's premiere. Behind the scenes, production is moving away from North Carolina due to adjustments in local film incentives. Whether all eight episodes will drop at once is not specified in the source; please check the official notice.
About the series
Created by showrunner Rebecca Cutter, the series was originally adapted from May Cobb's standalone novel and produced by Lionsgate. Because the original book was a self-contained story, the television series crafts original plotlines beyond the book's ending, with Cobb remaining as an executive producer. The dramatic narrative centers on wealthy East Texas women, personal betrayals, and high-stakes cover-ups.
What to expect
The returning cast features several key actors:
- Brittany Snow as Sophie O’Neil
- Malin Akerman as Margo Banks
- Dermot Mulroney as Jed
- Jaime Ray Newman as Callie
- Evan Jonigkeit, George Ferrier, Karen Rodriguez, Hunter Emery, and Branton Box
New additions joining the cast include John Stamos, Dale Dickey, Kim Matula, Alex Fitzalan, Cam Gigandet, and Angel Reese. Specific details regarding their roles are not specified in the source; please check the official notice.
Story details indicate that Sophie and Margo start the new season at odds following the dramatic events of the Season 1 finale, where Sophie hid a body. However, lingering secrets and new adversaries will eventually push the two main characters back together.
