Role Overview
More than 2,000 nurses across Tamil Nadu recently convened in Egmore to demand permanent job status and equal pay structure. The demonstration led to tensions and overnight arrests of participating healthcare staff and their legal advisor, drawing sharp criticism from political leaders including DMK president M K Stalin and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami. Following an official commitment from the Health Department, the Tamil Nadu Intermediary Health Workers Association announced that the nurses have temporarily paused their protest until November 3.
