The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an official advisory directing the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh to begin evacuating at-risk communities located in low-lying zones and Katcha areas along the River Indus and its tributaries. Exceptionally high and very high flood levels recorded upstream in the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers are expected to cause rising water levels in the River Indus.

Role Overview

The provided alert outlines emergency response measures and community mobilization directives issued to provincial authorities. Specific career vacancies or job positions are not specified in the source; please check the official notice.

The advisory highlights several key operational directions for authorities:

  • Identifying safe evacuation routes and setting up temporary shelters with basic necessary services.
  • Deploying heavy machinery, transport vehicles, excavators, and dewatering pumps at strategic points for fast response.
  • Stockpiling relief supplies, such as food, safe drinking water, medicines, tents, fuel, and non-food items across district and tehsil levels.
  • Monitoring critical infrastructure, including canals, bunds, and embankments, to identify and immediately repair any weak spots, seepages, or breaches.
  • Securing flood protection and power backup for essential water supply schemes and healthcare facilities.
  • Distributing early warnings to populations via local administration, mosques, media, and community networks, while mobilizing local volunteers to assist in evacuation efforts.
